From a locked to flexible and future-proof setup

ÅBEN started as a brewery, but today they offer much more than just beer. It is in their genes to experiment, develop and always strive for the best. They believe in creating experiences that bring people together. With this approach, it was important for us to be able to reflect this through a new and optimized webshop. ÅBEN doesn't just sell beer, they sell experiences and interactions – which must happen both offline and online.

With a great desire to have more flexibility and options in their front end, we designed and built a new webshop - where we took them from Shopify 1.0 to Shopify 2.0. Throughout the project, it was crucial to take a customer-centric point of departure - where the focus was on simplicity in the form of content display and navigation, so that it is easy for visitors to explore and find what they want to buy.

New heights with Shopify 2.0

The project started with two initial meetings, where we had to understand ÅBEN as a brand and a business, in order to design the right solution for their setup. It was important to maintain the aesthetics around the products, bring more flexibility to their front-end and also lift the business to new heights – especially by providing a really good experience.

With a good understanding of what ÅBEN 2.0 should be able to facilitate, we designed a wireframe prototype with all the new functionalities, which we believed were of great importance to both existing and new customers.

With new features such as mega menu, improved filtering, larger product cards and meta tags for information, we have since the launch in September managed to raise expectations for ÅBEN's future e-commerce business.

Improved navigation increases conversion

Since launch, we have seen some really great performance figures, where we have raised the conversion rate by 32%, the average basket by 11% and the revenue by a whopping 88%. By simplifying the navigation, we have made it easier for visitors to find what they need and thus increase the chance that they will convert.

ÅBEN has also got a more flexible setup, which they can build on as their requirements and wishes expand.
